AI Content: The SEO Game-Changer Google Actually Approves

Google’s Approach to AI and AI-Generated Content

AI in marketing is here to stay. Many tools are based on AI, significantly speeding up work and often improving quality (when used correctly and skillfully).

How does this affect SEO? What impact does AI have on SEO?

After the lightning-fast emergence of AI, especially LLM models, people and businesses have split opinions about AI and the content it creates.

Some are very wary of AI-generated content. Others have been burned badly by using AI inappropriately or by working with inexperienced providers.

Still others have approached AI with complete openness and trust, going “all in” on AI-based SEO content.

Who’s right?

Before I address that, I’d like to discuss the topic mentioned in the title: Google’s approach to AI-generated content.

Can we get banned or blacklisted by Google for using AI to create content?

Not everyone realizes this, but Google has posted an official stance on AI-generated content on their blog.

You can read about it in this blog post on Google’s official website: https://developers.google.com/search/blog/2023/02/google-search-and-ai-content

The two most important quotes from it are:

At Google, we’ve long believed in the power of AI to transform the ability to deliver helpful information. In this post, we’ll share more about how AI-generated content fits into our long-standing approach to show helpful content to people on Search.

And:

As explained, however content is produced, those seeking success in Google Search should be looking to produce original, high-quality, people-first content demonstrating qualities E-E-A-T.

As you can see, Google has no problem with AI-generated content as long as it meets Google’s general guidelines for content creation. Therefore, it’s subject to the same criteria as human-written content.

This isn’t surprising, because first, AI-generated content, when created using appropriate methods, is indistinguishable from human-written content.

Second, Google primarily cares that content is useful and helpful to users. This is a pretty obvious and correct approach.

So what’s the best approach?

After what I’ve presented earlier, the answer seems pretty obvious.

Since 2022, we’ve been living in a new reality when it comes to the internet, content, and SEO. There’s no going back to how things were, and changes will only happen faster.

AI can generate content much faster than humans, and with the right tools, it can also be more useful and relevant than human-created content.

So even if you, as a business owner, don’t like AI and resist introducing it to your company, if you don’t do it for your SEO, you’ll lose the battle. Unfortunately.

AI SEO content is now a necessity. A mix of human-written and AI-generated content is possible.

I’m currently involved in a process where AI content is used daily, and my observations are clear. There’s a noticeable increase in both content authority and organic traffic for every website I’ve helped implement it on.

I’ll do a more comprehensive summary in a few months, but for now, after several months, there are definite increases in every case I’ve been involved with and helped.
